Getting through the winter cold with a warm movie binge list

Growing up as a winter lover, Ive always felt at ease and at my most relaxed indoors, with my favourite blanky,  dig up my most raggedy and warm clothes I have in my hidden stash and of course binge on my favourite movies.

Panasonic shared with me a list of must watch movies to add on to my cozy and relaxed winter evenings, feel free to join in:

“The Lion King” (1994). This Disney animated classic follows the adventures of the young lion Simba, the heir of his father, Mufasa. Simba’s wicked uncle, Scar, plots to overthrow Mufasa’s from his throne by luring father and son into a stampede of wildebeests. But Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed. Simba returns as an adult to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon and Pumbaa. First released in 1994.
“The Shawshank redemption” (1994) starring; Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman and Bob Gunton. Two imprisoned men bond over a number of years, finding solace and eventual redemption through acts of common decency. The story is rich with emotive messaging it explores the journey of the human spirit in overcoming the trials placed on them in the correctional facility.
Our next title reputation precedes itself, the epic life and times of “The Godfather” (1972) which has had many spin-offs from the original. It’s cast include Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan. The movie depicts the early life and career of Vito Corleone in 1920s New York. The ageing patriarch of an organised crime dynasty transfers control of his clandestine empire to his reluctant son. “The Godfather” has also attained three Oscar awards.
Another multiple oscar winning movie on our list is “The Dark Knight” (2008) starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart. The thriller gives a twisted perception on the villain side of being a superhero in Gotham. When the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, the Dark Knight must come to terms with one of the greatest psychological tests of his ability to fight injustice.
“Moana” is a little more light-hearted and caters for children and the kid in you. The animation is set in Ancient Polynesia when a terrible curse incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches an impetuous Chieftain’s daughter’s island, she answers the Ocean’s call to seek out the Demigod to set things right.
“Forrest Gump” this inspirational story is a look into a slow-witted Forrest Gump, who has never thought of himself as disadvantaged, and thanks to his supportive mother, he leads anything but a restricted life. Whether dominating on the gridiron as a college football star, fighting in Vietnam or captaining a shrimp boat, Forrest inspires people with his childlike optimism. But one person Forrest cares about most may be the most difficult to save – his childhood love, the sweet but troubled Jenny.
If adventure is your favourite genre then our next pick is just for you, “Jurassic Park”. In Steven Spielberg’s massive blockbuster, palaeontologist Alan, Ellie and mathematician Ian Malcolm are among a select group chosen to tour an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park’s mastermind, billionaire John, assures everyone that the facility is safe, they find out otherwise when various ferocious predators break free and go on the hunt.
Our last pick for the absolute must-watch movies this winter is “The Breakfast Club” (1985). Five high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal. The disparate group includes rebel, princess Claire, outcast Allison, brainy Brian and Andrew, the jock. Each has a chance to tell his or her story, making the others see them a little differently and when the day ends, they question whether the school will ever be the same.
Panasonic will aid the hours of entertainment and fun with their range of televisions. Which include; 4K Pro resolution sets, LED LCD’s as well as Blu-ray DVD players. Their range is designed to ensure that you see exactly what the filmmakers intended. They combine wide cinematic colours, subtle gradations and outstanding levels of brightness. Now you can lock yourself away at home and enjoy the epic 4K experience. So do yourself a favour, head down to your nearest video store, fill up your popcorn bowl, grab a throw or two and snuggle up with these titles and a warm drink.
